James Darren, the Emmy-winning actor best known for his role as the Ferengi bartender Quark on the popular science fiction series 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,' has died at the age of 85.

Darren's agent confirmed his passing to The Hollywood Reporter but did not provide any details about the cause of death.

  • Born James William Ercolani on June 8, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Darren began his acting career in the 1950s.
  • He appeared in numerous films and television shows throughout his career, including 'The Twilight Zone,' 'Tora! Tora! Tora!', and 'The Love Boat.'
  • Darren won an Emmy Award in 1999 for his role as Quark on 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.' He played the character for seven seasons, from 1993 to 1999.

Darren was also a successful singer, releasing several albums in the 1960s and 1970s.
